Message 1741 - Posted: 8 Nov 2013, 8:28:38 UTC

I'm trying an experiment over the weekend. I've increase the maximum number of pixels in a work unit to 28. I'm interested if it reduces the http load as we have an 18 team challenge starting soon

Will the awarded amount of points per work unit also be increased accordingly? For now I detect a serious drop in the amount of points that I get for the work I've done.

And is this already implemented?
In the period 1-11 till 8-11 my average score per day was 239.000 points.
On 9-11 I got 137.000 points for the same amounts of time and resources I've
dedicated to this project. For today, the half-day score sits at 75.000.

I suspect the low scores are related to the large pending validation queue that's currently present. I've 1550 work units with status "validation pending".

That is entirely possible someone sucked up a large number of work units.

The experiment is off now.

There's a challenge comin' up, many will fill their bunkers. They will certainly all report in due time and 'til then I'm sure we all regret any inconvenience... Just sit back, relax and have some sips from your favourite beverage or, better yet, join the challenge!

*lol* Now my hosts file is edited again, I do see what you mean. You're weren't talking about them, were you? ;)

Seems they were not able or willing to meet the due date, though. Well, that's what makes a challenge interesting.

People have definitely been sitting on WUs. At 5:00 UTC - 7,000 Results hit the server to be validated.

Well, I sat (and sit) on a few, too. So no offence...

Hope this will be a great challenge for the project and the users!
