Sorry folks - David is having a few problems with the new galaxies - we hope to have things flowing shortly. But he is doing the following to the new data which is pretty tricky:

    (a) adaptive smoothing across all bands, after initial resolution match (this next run will be Pan-STARRS & SDSS, then we'll add GALAX, WISE, Spitzer & Herschel)
    (b) foreground stellar masking
    (c) segmentation map defining the main galaxy in each input, derived from a "white-light" image
    (d) integrated SED placed artificially into pixel (1,1).

Also the new Web Site Security Certificate has been deployed.

The Android code is about to be loaded onto the test server so we hope to release it asap.

Oh good, I got home from work just now and was getting a little concerned that something weird happened on my client and it wasn't grabbing new tasks.

Might be good to give my PC a little break from crunching for nearly 3 months straight.

Thanks for update Kevin.

Will be possible to see our processed galaxies in better resolution? O:-)

And I thought something was wrong on my end, until I logged in to here after being away for a month.
I stopped tasks here for a challenge on WCG, then when I restarted, nothing ...

You need to direct your help request towards the people running the telescopes.

Until then, either enjoy the electricity savings or find another project to keep your CPU warm. All projects have their dry periods, which is why you need more than one. :)

Probably not for a while it seems.
Asteroids@home is begging for pure crunchers and one of my other faves is enigma@home.
I regularly check for POGS projects, but have had nothing for about a month.
I will keep checking, but want crunch!

If you want to put your computer to good stuff. I recommend these in mean time.

Matt.

Yes it looks good. Jobs take 4 to 4.5 hours with around 222 credits so not bad and they also checkpoint which is useful. Recently done a few on a project which has WU's over 2 hours and no checkpoint which is not good.

@ Matt

I ran Asteroid@Home for quite a while under the same handle as here, but the project kept having server outages back about August of last year and was not stable enough for me to maintain contact with all of my rigs easily so I switched to this one.

I've returned to running Rosetta@Home again for the time being, but it would be nice if the project admins could give us some kind of ballpark ETA for work to resume.

I agree, they don't let people know what is happening. As much as I hate to say it, it seems like like it is run by uni students but wait it actually is! They should be running around kissing everyone they please and finding pleasure in life, to put it plainly. Perhaps Kirsten has too... lucky her!

Asteroids@Home had problems I agree, but it is back and running on my phone as of last Monday had lots of downloads that immediately skipped but got some that are doing work.
Can't comment for your rigs sorry.

If your rigs are bursting for work, Try Enigma@home. When it come to code cracking this one will be broken eventually. I have my old phone working on it too. One day this project will end and I'm a part of it!

Yes, I was running Enigma@Home for a time, but I thought they'd actually deciphered the final message already?

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the delay in updates! BTW, we're not run by uni students, but we are run by people who have full time jobs doing things for the SKA and other tasks, so we can't devote our full attention to theSkyNet - we so wish we could though! For example, I've been off organising this (http://astronomywa.net.au/index.php/General-news/astrofest-prizes-for-grabs.html) for the past few months :) (It went really well by the way!)

The problems Kevin mentioned above are what is still going on and as we're relying on Dave at JHU to provide the pre-processed data for us to upload to the queue we don't know an exact ETA. He's let us know it's coming soon, but like us he also has other parts of his job.

As Berserker says, most projects have small dry spells and we've been very lucky that this is our first major one after two years of almost continuous data!

Thanks for the support everyone. We definitely have heaps more processing to do, so we'll let you know when the galaxies are uploaded.
