We have the beta test server running. If people are willing to help test stuff (without receiving credit - Sam is working on the new credit model) connect to

http://pogsbeta.theskynet.org/pogsbeta

It has 17 filter bands (GALEX, Pan-STARRS, SDSS, WISE, Herschel, Spizter) and new wrappers and new Android. I need to make sure the amount of disk I allow is enough for the new models.

Unfortunately the server will be shutdown once the testing is complete; so you won't get any credits for helping (sorry), but you will get my thanks.

Hi Kevin,

Happy to help with Beta as from the logs I have the 2nd fastest active individual computer apparently (MacPro Octa core) + a Mac Mini and the MBPro when I am not actively using it.

Do I need to do anything special to join in the beta?

Cheers Hawkeye

When you go to add a new project in the tools menu, add the URL

http://pogsbeta.theskynet.org/pogsbeta

to the project URL towards the bottom of the screen and click next.

Although instructions from the project have not been issued the main project at http://pogs.theskynet.org/pogs is now running. I have deleted the beta project and restarted the main project on my computers.

Android devices have been having some issues in not updating to the latest software (fitsedwrapper v 4.01) so you may need to remove and rejoin devices to force the update.

Hmm, I see I have work to complete for POGS now which is great but of the 3 tasks that are running, neither the "elapsed time" or "time remaining" counter is moving. My CPU is also doing very little??

I just paused those 3 and let another 3 POGS tasks start and strangely, the elapsed time is moving but the estimated time isn't.

It's almost as if POGS is tying up my CPU from doing other work.
I might have to pause all of them as something just doesn't seem right:?

Update - Looks like a communication error on my end.

This seems to be a common problem when pogs is restarted.
Boinc sets estimated time from calculation and time taken for previous tasks.
Once a few tasks have been completed things seem to work ok.

If you select no new tasks for a while and let the task you have finish when you select allow new tasks the times should be much better.

Well, I've left my computer running all night and I'm not sure if it's finished a single POGS task. I'll pause all my other non POGS tasks and see what happens after a few hours.

My average work is now 22.55 *gulp* :?
