A new option has been added to the front page to display images of all the galaxies that are used in this survey. This is an initial version and will be improved. We are looking for suggestions on best way to organize the galaxies to make this more useful. Any comments are appreciated.

Hi Rob.

This is a nice feature, but when there is a survey of lets say 1000 galaxies, and I want to look at number 900, then I have to push the "next" button 60(!)times.
My suggestion is to show all the images on one page.
Then you have only to scroll, and that goes faster then pushing the button so many times.
And is it not possible to show the images only on the left side of the screen (seperated with a line), so there is space for information of the galaxie, such as distance, brightness, constellation, size, and so on. (or a link for that galaxie.)
And maybe all the images with the same size, lets say 250-250 pixels.
Another suggestion: When someone clicks a galaxie then to show 4 images with the 4 filters, and 4 images with the crunched areas sofar, and 4 how the galaxies look like now with the crunhed areas.(again with the same size).
Also some information, like how many percent is crunched already.
Btw. Why not a nice sharp picture on the frontpage of a partly crunched galaxie, it wil draw the attention of people who visit the website for the first time.
These are only some ideas of my, and of course I dont know if you want to do this ideas, or that it is not possible. (I am no programmer).

Gerard.

Give that a 10.000 galaxies and the load time for the page would be going to infinite - especially if you have a slow network line like me at home.
I suggest making 50 or 100 per page, how's that? Probably even self selectable how much you want per page?

Yes, or maybe the same way as in "Images you have processed".
Just all the galaxies of the present survey, and then you have only to click on the link for the image and the information.
I think that is the fastest way.

@Rob

Just wondering if there's a way of displaying the galaxies that are most relevant to the user. Perhaps have an option to display a list/thumbs in order of the most 'real estate' crunched by the user?

Actually, maybe that should be an option in the 'view your own galaxies' page.

Cheers,

Al.

The galaxy list has been enhanced as follows:
- Search by type, name, right ascension and declination.
- Sort by either name, type or right ascension and declination.
- Select the number of galaxies per page.

Presumably the work we are doing here at SkyNet POGS will at some point be added to the NED database?

Thanks!
