Any Issues with running a Optimized fit_sed Application.

It would be nice to hear the answer from the admin to this question.

I am using the stock BOINC client, and it is set to run using both cores. It's working very well!

Any chance?

No need to try to convince him. He already said that there would be a GPU application.
5) Message boards : Number crunching : Okay, I'll ask about GPUs (Message 276)
Posted 12 Aug 2012 by zombie67 [MM]
Is there any opportunity for a GPU app for this project? And if so, when?
6) Message boards : Number crunching : Three cheers for Kevin! (Message 275)
Posted 12 Aug 2012 by zombie67 [MM]
I've seen several comments in several threads about what a great job Kevin is doing to resolve this issue, correct that issue, and explain how the other issue is completely normal. But I think a separate thread needs to be started to make it plain. And on top of it all, he had the balls to actually *ask* us what we thought about how things could be improved. ...and then actually did something with that feedback, quickly. BRAVO!
7) Message boards : Number crunching : Your, as a BOINC Volunteer, thoughts on Credit (Message 274)
Posted 12 Aug 2012 by zombie67 [MM]
Only two now, but quite consistent credits: 8.166 per pixel, and ~12 min CPU-time per pixel, that's ~41 C/h CPU-time, and thus on the better site of C/h-ratio for my machine.
Keep it this way, it's fine.

Holy crap! Saenger is okay with higher than normal* credits. Awesome! I'm taking a picture! :D

*Whatever normal means...

What, *another* NP? Geeze, now I will have to find a place to hang it, not too gaudy.

No, he didn't.

You're right. You did. And his response was; "I haven't turn it on yet, but I can if you'd find it useful."

Yeah, now that account creation is enabled again, and there is plenty of work, and the app is working properly, I think it would be useful.

1) Never goes away
2) You can't list "not exporting stats" as a reason to justify not exporting stats. Circular logic. Q.E.D.
3) Most projects have no GPU app and never will. And they export stats just fine.
12) Message boards : News : Open again (Message 207)

I think you asked about when should stats be exported. Now is reasonable.

Also, when doing so, one of the attributes of that setting is frequency. Every 6 hours is what most stat sites would like. More frequently is better.

13) Message boards : Number crunching : Version 2 Error while computing (Message 193)
Posted 9 Aug 2012 by zombie67 [MM]

Just checked all my pending and valid ones, no 2.00 wus in there, ALL of them have errored out :(

Yow! Good catch!

It turns out than *none* of the 2.00 tasks have completed successfully and validated. At least not for me. I am going to suspend until we hear back from the project admins that something has changed.

Yeah, I am also getting quite a lot of -161 errors. And they don't happen right away either. Most are happening after about 14 hours of run time.

Here is a sample:

Edit: Ah, the missing file event is after the task has completed, and happens during the upload, back to the project.

upload failure: <file_xfer_error>

Hello hello!
16) Message boards : Number crunching : Check Pointing (Message 90)
Posted 5 Aug 2012 by zombie67 [MM]
I am pretty sure the wrapper itself cannot checkpoint. The wrapper just sends the instruction to the app to checkpoint every x minutes. The app must do the checkpointing.

Could it be that the wrapper is telling the app to checkpoint, but the app itself is not doing so?
